Treasurer Report

James M. Green WB3DJU 5-8-2008

This is the time of year when your treasurer is receiving both membership renewals along with banquet reservations for the Dayton Hamvention Collins Saturday night banquet.

For the banquest registrations via PayPal, please remember to advise your dining choice of chicken or beef.

Following past practices, those who failed to renew their membership for 2008 will no longer receive the Signal. The Signal has grown in size and content and is well worth the annual dues. Additionally the stickers for your certificate are traditionally sent out with the Signal second quarterly issue to those who are current with their dues.

CCA Announcement

CCA Board of Directors 5-4-2008

The Collins Collector Association regretfully announces that Jack Mory, KE3WV has stepped down as the CCA President. Jack is going to focus his energies on his career and other personal issues that need his full attention. Jack has made a substantial contribution to the CCA over the last several years by serving simultaneously as a Board Member, the Presiding President, and the Membership Secretary. We all owe Jack a BIG THANK YOU. Please feel free to contact Jack and wish him well and thank him for his "above the call of duty" contributions to the CCA.

Paul Kluwe, W8ZO, will be joining the Board of Directors and succeed Jack in the role of President. Paul Kluwe is known to the CCA membership as the "moderate" Reflector Moderator. It was Paul who shepherded the Reflector during the days following the decision to open up and make more real time the Reflector postings. Paul established the present day Reflector guidelines and made the Reflector into what we all enjoy today. Please come and meet Paul at Dayton.

Pete Zilliox, K5PZ will assume the Membership Secretary's duties indefinitely or until such time as some member would like to volunteer to accept this important volunteer position.

We all are excited and look forward to having Paul lead the CCA organization. Please consider volunteering to support the many activities the CCA provides for its membership. As always, please feel free to contact Paul or any board member with your comments, concerns, and thank-you’s.

The CCA Board

Dayton 2008 - Make your reservations now!

Tony Sokol W9JXN 2-28-2008

Dayton 2008 is just around the corner and it is time to make sure your reservations are in order so you do not miss out on the fun. To make reservations for the annual CCA banquet on FRIDAY NIGHT, May 16th, you can visit the CCA web site (Dayton 2008) and click on "Register Now". Be sure to tell us whether you want CHICKEN or BEEF or if you need special dietary considerations. Of course, PayPal is available to help make things a little easier for you.

The Holiday Inn North at 2301 Wagner Ford Road is where the action is. Reservations can be made by calling (937) 278-4871 and telling them you are a member of the CCA. We have a block of only 30 rooms available at the special CCA rate of $118 (plus tax) so get yours reserved now. Again this year there will be a shuttle from the hotel to Hara arena which will save on parking and the traffic hassles.

The festivities start Thursday night in the hospitality suite at the Holiday Inn where there will be a cash bar and assorted goodies to tempt the pallet. The hospitality suite will be available again on Saturday night to provide a place to rest you weary feet and share your rare flea market finds with fellow CCA friends. This might be a good time to bring out those "show and tell" pictures of your latest projects.

Register Now For Dayton

We have lots more planned so stay tuned for more and don't forget to check into the nets on 3805 and 14,263 to learn more as we get closer to the big event.

See you in Dayton

Membership

James M. Green WB3DJU 11-14-2007

To the membership:

For the last approximately 9 months, I have as treasurer; have been receiving dues payments and new memberships via PayPal. This method of handling transactions has resulted in a streamlining of procedures. Any one with an acceptable charge card can use the service. Log onto the CCA web site and use the forms as directed. Those with their own PayPal accounts already know the convenience of using the system.

There is an additional charge of $1.00 to use the service making dues for US and Canadian members $21.00.

Gee, we make .09 cents on each transaction and loose a few cents on our over seas friends.

You will be receiving your dues notice with the next issue of the Signal and it is respectfully requested, where possible, members will avail themselves of the PayPal method of paying their dues.

Thank you:

board member

The CCA Signal has a new Editor

CCA News Release 11-10-2007

Bill Carns, N7OTQ and Trustee of K0CXX has been appointed Editor of the CCA Signal Quarterly Magazine. Bill is a long time member of the CCA, a past Board member and carries CCA # 94-0009. His background includes many years of managing organizations responsible for publishing technical and promotional material and advertising. Personally he has authored many texts, training programs and literature. He has written for the CCA in the past including a quarterly dedicated to the KWS-1. He brings this experience and a passion for Collins radios and collecting to his new position. He has asked that anyone who is interested in writing or contributing material to the Signal contact him at wcarns@austin.rr.com . He has also asked us to pass along that, although this Q4 Signal issue is a bit late due to the transition and illness, he is committed to providing the CCA readership with a quality magazine that exceeds the expectations of the membership.

The current Board of Directors had a vision of a much improved Signal. Bill has been part of the formation of this vision. His interest in making it a reality is high and he needs the help of the membership in providing material and feedback regarding the needs of the readership.

Feel free to call or email him at any time. (512) 847 7010

New CCA Web Site

Brian Sokol KA9SRK 7-27-2007

Welcome to the new CCA web site.

We'll be tuning and improving the new site over the next week or so. You're sure to find some broken links, and not all of the content has been fully converted to the new format.

In the Forums, we ask that you either 1) register with your Callsign as your Username, or 2) place your Callsign in your signature. This is so that everyone is more easily identified amongst each other.

All feedback is welcomed as well.
