ART-13 & ARR-15 Neptune Radio
This rare photo of a P2V-5 Neptune patrol bomber radio room shows an array of Collins equipment. The transmitter is the AM/CW ART-13 and it is paired with two Collins servo tuned ARR-15 receivers to provide a complete dual receiver HF communication capability for the aircraft. The sets could be controlled remotely (10 channels each) from the cockpit, or could be locally operated by the radio operator sitting in the chair in the foreground. To the left of the ART-13 are the Frequency Meter and then the AC Intercom. Below the ART-13 are the three carbon pile genset regulators for the main engines.
