On March 24, 2014, the Collins Collectors Association and the Antique Wireless Association signed a significant document formalizing a growing cooperative relationship that has been evolving over the past two years. This relationship has already fostered successful display sharing and fund raising efforts both individually and in further cooperation with the Arthur A. Collins Legacy Association in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The AACLA is an Iowa chartered organization focused on archiving and presenting the legacy of A. A. Collins and his Collins Radio Company.

This alliance is proving to be a significant tool in the progress being made to expand the effectiveness of both the CCA and the AWA in the areas related to preservation, display and sharing of artifacts and anecdotal history.

The CCA is proud to be a contributor to the formation of the CRHG and to its work supporting both the AWA organization, and its museum in Bloomfield New York, as well as the work of the AACLA in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

An extract of this agreement is provided below. Further information on the Collins Radio Heritage Group and its activities can be found on the CRHG website and http://www.collinsradioheritagegroup.org/ , this website and the AWA website at http://www.antiquewireless.org/ .

As this agreement was signed, work was progressing on the next major project undertaken by the CRHG and you can look for some very exciting news in the following months. This project, again undertaken with the cooperation of the Arthur A. Collins Legacy Association (AACLA), will result in a giant step forward in the Collins Radio related archival efforts of all of the organizations involved.

To whom it may concern,

This letter will serve to form an alliance of two entities. This alliance will be named the Collins Radio Heritage Group (CRHG). Related website content will be agreed upon by the two entities’ representatives unanimously before being put up on the Internet.

The Antique Wireless Association (AWA) – A Tax Exempt 501(c)3 corporation chartered in the State of New York, is dedicated to preserve and share the history of the technologies used to communicate and entertain – from the first telegram to today’s wireless text messaging.

The Collins Collectors Association (CCA) – A tax exempt corporation of the State of Texas, was formed to serve the general collector population for Collins Radio equipment and to additionally, and more generally, support the preservation and presentation of the anecdotal and factual history of the Collins Radio Company, the Rockwell Collins Corporation, its employees, technology and products. The CCA is currently not a 501(c)3.

The Goal of the consortium will be to work cooperatively to preserve, and make available for public display and educational study, historically important Collins Radio related materials to the fullest extent possible.

It is hereby declared that it is the intention of these parties to work cooperatively toward the following objectives:

There will, when deemed appropriate, be a cooperative sharing, and/or loaning, of display material between the AWA Museum in Bloomfield, New York and the CCA. This sharing, upon agreement of all parties, may involve other museums committed to the archiving and display of Collins Radio and Rockwell Collins artifacts.  . . . . . . . . . . . .

To the extent possible the two parties will work together to support other organizations which have similar goals and objectives.

The two parties will work together to foster the public display of Collins Radio historical material (paper, recordings and equipment) at either the AWA facilities, or other museums or situations as may be appropriate. More specifically, they agree that they will cooperate in fund raising and other activities required to strengthen the historical preservation and presentation efforts related to the history of Collins Radio.

The two entities will work together to assist families, heirs, or possible donors in the preparation of estate planning, or the disposal or donation posthumously, regarding material that relates to the history of Collins or Rockwell Collins.

To the degree possible, the two entities will work to improve the structure of the relationship and agreement in the area of “Safe Harbor” (a guaranteed display home) for historically important Collins related materials that are stored at, or displayed at, either the AWA or other related museum facilities. . . . . . . . . . . . .

To the degree necessary, the activities of the consortium will be guided by a management team consisting of the representatives delegated by the individual two organizations. At this time, that is interpreted to be the President of the CCA and the Deputy Director of the AWA.

Agreed upon this 24th day of March, 2014
