I've got one that I'm putting back in service, anyone using one of these? Hints, ideas, likes, dislikes?

William/Bill?
Yes you are not alone with your URC32/KWT6-X. I bought one as an auction item reported to be complete but no rack. Since then I have spent many hours bringing it up to the operational level. At this point it has not transmitted but receives great. My frequency generator module was preped for the 100 cycle step switch but no prep on the base plate. I have several of the 100 cycle modules and plan to install one with my own interpretation of the proper mount. The socket is the problem as it is very special with 3 coax and about 5 standard pins.

I also have the high stability frequency reference on the back of the rack but not connected yet. it requires the removal of the normal one and replacement of it with a buffer module which I have several of.

All in all I have had great fun with the rack. I built the desk for the front and found a noise cancelling microphone of the same type shown in Collins literature.

Reciently I acquired the remote antenna tuner and control module. I also have found several of the multipin connectors which is a real chalange. the unit works and is a real piece of engineering. It is the unit used by the Navy aboard ship with a 32 foot whip fo 2-30 Mhz. Enough. I am retired Navy and a sub salior (diesel).
Only a hobby level electronics person. no formal or job experience. I am the CCA treasurer and a board member. I don't want to suggest anything until I understand what point you are at with your unit and how complete it is.

I have several items from this family, including the ARC-58, TRC-75, URC-32, and KWT-6, as well as an 18Z-4. I am preparing an article (or series of articles) for the Signal, and I would dearly love to hear from anyof you who have information, stories, or amusing anecdotes on this, the first purpose built SSB gear that the DoD adopted. I would also like to test the waters to see if a users group might be in order. What do all of you think?
