I know this question may be in the weeds for some. I'm refurbishing an old KWM2 (aren't they all?) where the main tuning dial is not butter smooth. The pinch roller assembly has been removed and I found the following:

1) the brass disk closest to the panel is bent probably indicating the rig took a hit on the tuning shaft at some time in it's life. I see the disks are riveted on the shaft. I have tried to bend the offending disc back into shape but it always returns to its "bent" position. Any thoughts on how to get it back where it belongs?

2) the shaft is held in place in the bushing that mounts to the front panel with two (2) clips. One of the clips has obviously been lost as in it is place is a piece of bare wire. Does anyone know of a source for these things? I don't even know how to size it.

3) the brass journals inside the panel bushing are scored rather badly so that turning the shaft is a little rough. I've removed the shaft, cleaned the shaft and journal with alcohol, and put a very very thin coating of light oil on the shaft but there is still something that feels it is catching as I turn it. The shaft looks unmarked; it is the softer brass journal that took the beating. Does anyone know how to smooth out what burrs must be there without making the journal out of round?

Thanks in advance your any suggestions. I'm off to restring the PA bandswitch dial cord.
