hello I have A Collins R390a/URR that was given to me this christmas

I have contacted "Chuck Rippel" <R390A@R390A.com> but he said he no longer has time even this is a good"project radio"
the gears and dials funtion but the radio sat up for 10 years in a garage so I dont know if its safe to turn on

He recommend the Repair DVD,s By HI RES

But I have no experience repairing this stuff

its not a basket case and I would like to get this radio fixed. Brick wall

I can send photos if need be
