General questions and answers about the CCA Collins Reflector
A "reflector" is an electronic mailing list where list members can e-mail (post) a question or comment and it is automatically distributed via e-mail to everyone who is subscribed to the mailing list.  There are hundreds of "special interest" reflectors on the Internet, the CCA Collins Reflector is one such list.  Since you will receive lots of emails automatically via the reflector,  you might consider setting up a "filter" in your e-mail program so all reflector e-mail is automatically delivered into a specific Collins Reflector  "mailbox".  This is the only way to keep e-mail from the reflector from mixing with your normal "in box" email.  Eudora Pro is one such e-mail program that allows you to do this easily
www.eudora.com.  Presently, the CCA Collins reflector is distributed to almost 900 list members.  Subscriptions are FREE.  Come join the fun!

What is the CCA Collins Reflector?
The CCA Collins Reflector is a not-for-profit information distribution medium via the Internet sponsored by the Collins Collectors Association to support owners and enthusiasts of Collins Radio. At the present time, subscription is free for all CCA members and non-members.  Non-members are encouraged to support the Collins preservation and archiving efforts of the CCA by joining the CCA.

Who can subscribe to the Collins Reflector?
The Reflector is a benefit to members of the Collins Collectors Association. Those who are on the Reflector and are not currently members of the Collins Collectors Association are also welcome to participate.

For more information on joining the CCA, go to the membership application portion of the CCA Web Site or send an E-Mail request to the Reflector Administrator. Also, if you are on the Reflector, plan on contributing information to the group. Not everyone is "Collins Man of the Week" every week but, everyone at one time or another has something positive for the group. We simply encourage you to "speak up!!" Those who make no effort to contribute could stand to be dropped from the list due to inactivity. Remember, don't just be a taker, this is a 2-way exchange.

How to Subscribe to the Reflector:
Go to our
CCA Collins Reflector subscription page, If you would like to subscribe, please read our list Membership Guidelines and Legal Disclaimer and then press the "I agree" button to subscribe.  Your e-mail program window will open and all you need to do is hit "send"....do not type anything...just click on "send".   Within a few minutes, you will receive a subscription confirmation via email and a welcome message with complete information on how to post messages to the Collins Reflector.

Make sure you do not include anything else with the message such as your boilerplate signature line!  If all is successful, you will be signed up to the list and a complete set of instructions will be sent back to you in the form of an E-Mail by the automated list server.

How to Post-to/Participate in the Reflector
To post a message to the Reflector, simply send it in E-Mail form to:

COLLINS@LISTSERVE.COM

The automated list processor will mail your message out to all those subscribed to the Collins Reflector.

How to reply to messages on the Reflector
Think of the listserver as a net. There is a large, interested audience listening and wanting to participate. We would all certainly like to share your ideas when replying to a message or commenting on a topic of discussion. Your replies are handled in the same manner as are postings explained above. If you wish to reply privately, you must cause your mail program to reply to the posters address directly.

General Posting Guidelines
We encourage any information or questions on the subject of Collins radio or general vintage radio subjects if that material is collateral.

Policy on Advertising, Selling and Swapping
We really prefer that no advertising take place on the Reflector. There are multiple outlet with larger "audiences" available elsewhere.  We recognize that some enthusiasts wish to offer their for sale items to fellow Collins enthusiasts first.

Thus, for sale ads for your "personal" gear, are of interest to subscribers and are acceptable provided they do not "clutter" the Reflector. When selling a personal rig, please use the CCA Collins Grading Standards to describe the condition of an advertised product.

Those who are regular equipment speculators/resellers should not promote their activities on the Reflector.

We also recognize that some Collins enthusiasts provide a whole spectrum of value added items including parts, repair services, books, painting, videos, etc. Because of their level of interest and depth of knowledge, the services and items offered by these individuals can be a real benefit the Collins enthusiast. The same "mention it, don't hawk it" policy as above applies in this case.

Redistribution of Material
Items posted on the CCA Web site or on the Collins Reflector which include a copyright notice from Rockwell Collins (Collins Radio) or from the Collins Collector Association (CCA) can be downloaded, printed or copied for personal use only, and are not to be reproduced or otherwise used for commercial purposes without the express consent of the copyright owner.  In general, other copyrighted material, or links to copyrighted material should not be posted on the Collins Reflector.

Any questions or comments should be directed to the List Administrator. We hope you enjoy and benefit from the CCA Collins Reflector sponsored by The Collins Collectors Association.
